Rock Pets

We did a spot of rock painting yesterday. Thanks to pinterest for some inspiration as usual!

We decided doing all the base coat first and the details second is the best idea, it is funny how the little crafters have to learn these things :)

Nesting hit :)

We had such a lovely warm spring breezy day the other day that I washed about 50 loads of washing. Mmmmm it smelled good! and even better a lot of it was for the baby, dd2 was beside herself exclaiming over every piece of clothing - "ah mum that's so cute." She showed her big sister when she came home from school too. They are getting excited about the car seat being down and the buggy being washed. (if it was removable it was washed the other day!)

So I now have all the baby clothes sorted into 5 lb, 7 lb, up to 10 lb and up to 13 lb. No matter what size this child is we have clothes for her! If she turns out to be a he we still have a few white baby grows!

I have a ta-da moment totally inspired by Lucy. However I obviously don't have the same patience as her because mine is a baby size and her's must have taken a million times longer! I used her summer flower granny square pattern and then made 28 small ones and 5 big ones. (Actually I miscalculated and made 30 small ones!!) I thoroughly enjoying making this - mainly doing a few squares as we watched our nightly episode of jericho. But got a bit more obsessive towards the end. I used all wool that was in my granny's stash except the light purple edging, so that's kind of nice having something completely of Granny's for this new baby.

And the pretty pile of cut-offs!

I made some gorgeous little shoes for my friend's baby, it was her dedication a couple of weeks ago.

This is the toe and tongue.

These are the heels

 The soles

This is my treasure trove of buttons, I got the tin box from my granny's stuff and I love it!

This is finished article and the book I got them from - very happy with her book, I have made a dress from it too.

Apologies for the bad quality photos, late at night and on my phone don't make for the best photos in the world!

Yesterday was such a perfectly perfect spring day here. In fact it was as warm as many an irish summer's day.

The girls wanted to wear sandals and string tops! and they got out their sunchairs to "enjoy a bit of sun!"

I am currently painting up a dresser so I did that outside, the girls had an icepop, the windows and doors were open, the sun shining, cows in the field, washing on the line. A contented day :)

Another hat and sun blush tomatoes.

Went visiting today and made another of those little hats from the last post. This one is for a little boy. I think its cute!

Mum and Dad have  a lot of tomatoes right now and I took a few to try sun blush tomatoes. Put them in a low oven - 100 degrees, for a long time - maybe 8 hours. Had drizzled in olive oil first and put some oregano, salt, sugar and thyme on too. I could eat them all night - they are delicious. They may very well be my first official craving :)

Little crochet (knit lookalike) hat

I made this little hat for some new friends of ours. I loved the hat - got the basic pattern here. I didn't reduce it down once the square was made, just slip-stitched it up and then made little ears by tying them and then sewing in the ends so it was really secure. It was fairly fast, though I am very unmotivated and tired - it was great having a deadline though to get it finished. The child is already 6 weeks old so maybe I should have had a sooner deadline!

Here is the final product:
